In the bookshop district, outside a place called Descartes and Dante... |
Many old structures, including this torre, built from a variety of re-cycled materials |
Alley scene; there are no streets...just boulevards and alleys |
Another |
One alley had dozens...scores...of miniatures shoppes, as above...a video I made for our grand-daughter is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBl7W8FF1w |
We had dinner at Michele's, another old pizzeria that is said to be Naples' oldest and most popular...here, the Margherita; the Marinera, no cheese, is the only other flavor; seriously |

I love all your travel blogs. everyone!
not sure you got last comment so here it is again, and that is that I love your travel blogs! all the best, Fran
Just on a whim I decided to check out your blog, which I have done periodically for many years.... Oh how we loved the cosmic meeting-up with you in 2013 in the campground just outside of Pompeii. After our year in Europe (2013-14), we sold almost everything and embarked on a 5-year journey across the US in a class A RV--technically homeless but so very happy. I wrote a very faithful blog about all of our travels for all 5 years at https://cttw2.blogspot.com called "Catching the Tradewinds." From 2015-2019, we covered 30 states and eventually settled down in St Johns, FL in an active 55+ retirement community. As Covid eased, we tried a couple of cruises in the Caribbean and have the next cruise scheduled for October in Greece and Turkey. I am contemplating trying out your idea of renting a small apartment for a number of weeks in the European city of our choice. There just is no going back to the small camper lifestyle like you just did in New Zealand! Anyway, happy travels! You continue to inspire us! Al & Carol Galus
Carol, thanks you for your kind comments. I looked over your fine blog and marveled at how many other times our paths may have crossed. Vicki and I well remember our meeting at Camp Spartacus in Pompeii and comparing notes on travel and other things. Your upcoming cruise to Greece and Turkey sounds great. If you look at our blog, you'll find that Vicki has posted a good deal of practical information on traveling by apartments. We're in an apartment presently in Barcelona, moving on to Amsterdam and then Paris shortly. We've come to really enjoy the city/apartment mode of travel. Bon voyage!
Oops...not the blog but our website where Vicki has posted the apartment travel information!
