It seems like only yesterday. Well, I remember posting about it. I think. We saw the chateau and chappelle of Vincennes in 2014.
Here, and
here. Passing by them en eroute to the Parc Floral, we figured 12 years was enough to refresh our memories of what is actually an important place, both historically and touristically. Also to confirm, once more, that I always take the same pix, from the same angles, etc., etc. Also since our Monuments Passion memberships were running out imminently, and this was the last place of interest in Paris we hadn't seen recently.

| Imposing entrance to the whole complex |
| The Keep...tallest in Europe |
| The Chapelle, we'll get to later |
| Medieval fortress within the outer curtain |
| One of the deeper, wider 13th century moats we've seen |
| Bridge from the entry tower to the Keep |
| Non-funny faces on the Keep |
| Atop the bell tower, overlooking the ramparts |
| The Tour Duo in the rainy distance |
| Walking the ramparts |
| View of the chapelle |
Inside the Keep; a royal refuge for centuries, a prison in the 18th and 19th centuries |
| Some of the prisoners were artistic |
| Some not so much |
| Stairs not taken |
| In the Marquis de Sade's cell, his words projected on the wall |
| Letter to his femme; probably complaining about the prison food |
Now in the chapelle, looking at helpful models of the whole complex... huge curtain, many towers, the Keep and chapelle within... |
| Practice for a school performance there |
| 16th century windows |
Tomb of Louis Antoine, Duke of Enghien, last of the Conde's; among the last of the House of Bourbon, and an apparent heir to the throne after the execution of Louis XVI; Enghien was executed by order of Napoleon at Vincennes; tomb erected in his honor by Louis XVIII in 1815; not sure what the Statue of Liberty was doing there...nyuk, nyuk, nyuk... |
