Lavadieu

After Brioude we visited another beautiful village, Lavadieu. Of major interest was the parish church, formerly part of an abby, Romanesque again, and its 14th century frescoes.
Scenes about the village

Lavadieu is too small to have it own bakery,
but it does have this bread vending machine

And the periodic market consists of this truck, which held an
astonishing variety of items

The little parish church is primarily Romanesque, and held
frescoes and other items of interest

Mostly Passion scenes

But note this: the only known representation of Death as a
woman

Standard jaws of Hell

Interesting village

Capitals And Corbels At St. Julian's Basilica, Brioude

First, the capitals. Then the corbels. Just the merest few of each. Definitely the largest collection of such corbels we have seen yet.
